School Food's 'Mari' Surpasses 77 Million Units Sold
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] School Food announced on the 21st that the cumulative sales of its signature menu item, ‘Mari,’ have surpassed 77 million rolls (as of the end of last month).
Mari is a bite-sized gimbap served with a special mayo sauce, and it has been a steady seller since School Food first launched it in 2002. It is characterized by using four or fewer ingredients inside to emphasize the natural flavors of each component. Additionally, the rice is cooked with kelp to maximize the fluffy texture of the grains.
School Food reports that more than 10,000 rolls have been sold daily over the past 20 years.
School Food offers over 10 varieties of Mari, including the ‘Mozzarella Spam Egg Mari,’ which features the savory combination of salty spam and mozzarella cheese, the ‘Spanish Squid Ink Mari’ made with premium Spanish squid ink, and the ‘Popping Flying Fish Roe Mari’ containing fresh flying fish roe.
Reflecting consumer preferences, the ‘Special Mari’ series emphasizes the original taste by using four or fewer ingredients inside. The rice is also cooked with kelp to enhance the fluffy texture of the grains.
