The county decided to close Yeongam Wolchulsan Gichan Land and Geumjeong Baengbaengi-gol Gichan Land again this year, following last year, due to the continued nationwide spread of COVID-19 in religious groups and facilities.
Additionally, considering overall factors such as COVID-19 prevention measures and social distancing when opening the Gichan Land water parks, the county sent official notices nationwide and put up promotional banners to strictly control the use of Gichan Land along with public awareness campaigns.
Wolchulsan Gichan Land, which has been attracting attention as a well-being summer resort, was highly praised nationwide as a premium summer destination, attracting 140,000 visitors in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, with an opening event and full operation.

Governor Jeon Dong-pyeong said, “The Gichan Land water park is a natural pool using valley water flowing through the Maekbanseok of Wolchulsan National Park, making it an ideal summer resort. Although we regret this closure decision, we prioritized the health and safety of our residents above all,” and added, “We hope that Gichan Land operations will return to normal next year.”
