Daycare Teachers Who Beat, Forced Vomiting, and Instigated Fights Escape Arrest
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] On the 17th, Judge Yoon Jun-seok of the Criminal Division 2, Tongyeong Branch of Changwon District Court, announced that he sentenced daycare teacher A to 3 years in prison and B to 2 years in prison for child abuse (violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes) involving abuse of daycare children.
However, the court did not order detention in court, allowing the defendants to seek a higher court's review.
Judge Yoon also ordered A to complete 40 hours of child abuse treatment programs and imposed a 3-year employment restriction at child-related institutions. B was ordered to complete 40 hours each of child abuse and sexual violence treatment programs and was also banned from working at child-related and disability-related institutions for 3 years.
The court recognized that both individuals physically, emotionally, and sexually abused the children they were supposed to protect.
Judge Yoon stated, "Considering that there were 18 victims and over 50 instances of abuse, a prison sentence is unavoidable."
The two were indicted without detention on charges of committing dozens of child abuse acts against 18 children aged 2 to 3 at a daycare center in Geoje City between January and February 2019, where they worked as daycare teachers.
