[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseong Hoon) has created a rural-themed scenic path along approximately 11,500㎡ of the riverside area between Cheolsan Bridge and Geumcheon Bridge along the Anyangcheon River as part of a plan to develop Anyangcheon as a local attraction.
The district planted canola flowers and buckwheat flowers in the section from Doksan Pedestrian Bridge to Geumcheon Bridge, ecological rice paddies and root crops (taro, yacon, ginger, turmeric, castor bean, etc.) in the section near Haan Pedestrian Bridge, and cosmos, cotton, canna, and job's tears around Cheolsan Bridge, allowing residents to enjoy walks while appreciating diverse landscapes.
In 2022, the district plans to establish the ‘Taro Field Rural Food Scenic Path,’ ‘World Agricultural Heritage Guduljangnon Stone Wall Path,’ and ‘Cotton Field Scenic Path’ along a 0.9 km stretch on the left bank of Anyangcheon (between Ancheon Elementary School and Doksan 1-dong Branch).
Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yuseong Hoon said, “We hope the Anyangcheon rural-themed scenic path will revitalize residents’ leisure activities, which have been limited due to the normalization of non-face-to-face and contactless lifestyles caused by COVID-19,” adding, “We will actively cooperate with neighboring local governments to accelerate the project to develop Anyangcheon as a local attraction that improves residents’ quality of life.”
