Seoul City Opens Nominations for '2021 Seoul Metropolitan Volunteer Awards' Candidates
Applications open until the 30th of next month... Model citizens and organizations practicing good deeds in various fields such as donations and volunteer activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is accepting nominations for candidates for the '2021 Seoul Metropolitan Volunteer Award' from the 17th until July 30th to promote a bright and healthy civic culture and realize a warm city, Hope Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Volunteer Award, which began in 1989 and is celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year, has honored a total of 2,157 recipients to date. The awards will be given to a total of 21 people: 1 Grand Prize winner, 5 Excellence Award winners, and 15 Merit Award winners.
Nominees should be exemplary citizens or organizations who have practiced good deeds in various fields such as donations and volunteer activities, contributing to the development of the local community and the spread of a sharing culture. As of the announcement date, nominees must be individuals or organizations who have continuously resided or operated a business in Seoul for more than three years.
Nominators include administrative agencies and registered private organizations. Unregistered organizations and individuals may submit nominations with recommendation letters signed by at least 10 people. Nomination documents can be downloaded from the Seoul Metropolitan Government website. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in October.

Kim Sang-han, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau, said, "Despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19, there are many hidden angels who quietly practice volunteer work through consideration and sacrifice for their neighbors," adding, "We hope that each nominee will be actively recommended so that we can encourage them and overcome these difficult times together."
