President Moon: "Korea's Next-Generation Mobility, a New Success Model with Spain" (Comprehensive)

[Spain (Madrid) = Joint Press Corps] President Moon Jae-in, who is on a state visit to Spain, stated on the 16th (local time) at the 'Korea-Spain Green and Digital Business Forum,' "Korea, which possesses the best electric vehicle, hydrogen vehicle, and battery technologies, hopes to create a new success model with Spain in the next-generation mobility sector," adding, "Korea will actively support cooperation between companies of the two countries."
This event was hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, with participation from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S?nchez, government officials from both countries, and major business leaders. From Korea, Park Yong-man, former chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and 'Chairman of the Korea-Spain Economic Cooperation Committee,' attended.
Additionally, large corporations such as LG Energy Solution, GS Energy, Samsung Engineering, and Hanwha Solutions participated alongside mid-sized companies (Douzone Bizon) and startup companies (ChargeIn). Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Seung-wook, Spanish Minister of Industry Reyes Maroto, representatives from six Korean companies, and representatives from eight Spanish companies (including Iberdrola, Telef?nica, Indra) were also present.
At the forum, President Moon proposed three cooperation measures: a low-carbon economy, digital innovation, and joint entry into third countries. He said, "Based on the Korea-Spain startup cooperation MOU, exchanges and cooperation among startups, icons of innovation, will expand, and I expect the digital transformation of the overall economy to spread rapidly."
President Moon added, "Spain, a gateway to the European, African, and Latin American markets, and Korea, a gateway to the Asian market, will jointly enter the 5G, electric vehicle, and renewable energy markets, contributing not only to the economic development of both countries but also to the reconstruction of a better global economy."
He further stated, "Today, Prime Minister S?nchez and I agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership and signed MOUs on cooperation in Industry 4.0, startups, and clean energy," pledging, "The Korean government will communicate and cooperate more closely to become a strong supporter of businesspeople."

The Blue House explained, "Spain is one of the four major economic zones in the EU and the second-largest automobile manufacturing powerhouse in Europe, sharing various commonalities with our country in terms of population size and economic strength." It added, "In particular, based on its geopolitical advantage connecting Europe and Africa and its historical, cultural, and linguistic affinity, Spain is a key economic cooperation partner of Korea, which has established close economic relations with Latin American countries."
