Contributing to Residents' Health Improvement and Local Economic Revitalization through Expansion of Community Sports Facilities
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Jeollanam-do Muan-gun (Governor Kim San) announced on the 15th that the winning design for the multipurpose gymnasium construction project within Muan Sports Park was selected through an online evaluation by the Public Procurement Service on the 11th.
The multipurpose gymnasium construction project involves an investment of a total of 18 billion KRW (5.4 billion KRW from the national government, 12.6 billion KRW from the county) to build a gymnasium with a total area of 7,092㎡, consisting of one basement floor and three above-ground floors.
The first floor of the gymnasium will include four kendo training courts and spectator seats, the second floor will be a multipurpose gymnasium, and the third floor will have gymnasium spectator seating.
To promote the project, the county established the project plan in 2019, passed the Jeollanam-do investment review in June last year, and this year confirmed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s local sports facility support project (national subsidy project). They allocated 1 billion KRW for design costs, including 300 million KRW in national funds in the main budget, and proceeded with the design competition.
The architectural design competition, commissioned and managed by the Public Procurement Service, saw participation from two companies, and through the online evaluation held on the 11th, the work by ISP Architects Co., Ltd. was selected as the winner.
Based on the winning design of this competition, the county plans to actively promote the construction of the gymnasium, complete the design by March next year, and complete the gymnasium in the second half of 2023.
A county official said, “We will do our best to ensure that this project, aimed at expanding the base of community sports, proceeds without any setbacks.”
Governor Kim San stated, “Once the gymnasium is completed, it will provide a good environment for the county’s kendo team, which is currently training under poor conditions, and we expect to attract nationwide kendo competitions and training camps. We will spare no support to ensure that the construction of the gymnasium also contributes to revitalizing the local economy.”
