The Spread of Remote Work... KT Launches Smart Working Service 'MyOffice'
Egg Terminal-Based... Using Dedicated Network
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] KT announced on the 15th that it has launched 'MyOffice,' a smart working service that allows employees to comfortably handle company tasks while working from home, on business trips, or on the move.
The MyOffice service introduced by KT is implemented through an egg device that receives LTE signals and converts them into wireless LAN (Wi-Fi). Unlike regular egg devices, it features the ability to use various company-specific internal security policies and internal IP addresses externally.
Unlike typical VPN (Virtual Private Network) environments, there is no need to install separate software on work laptops or manually change IP addresses. Security is enhanced by transmitting data directly to the client company's internal network via a dedicated network. Up to 15 users can be registered per egg device.
The usage fee for MyOffice is 7,150 KRW per egg device per month (including VAT). To use data, companies must subscribe to a corporate data plan tailored to their business environment. Corporate customers can choose from 10 plans ranging from 300 gigabytes (GB) to 200 terabytes (TB) per month.
Last year, KT built a pilot service for the '5G-based Government Work Network' using the same method as MyOffice. The Ministry of Science and ICT, which applied this service to its operations, received a satisfaction rating from 81.8% of its employees using the service.
Before the official launch of the MyOffice service, KT is conducting a pilot operation with some employees. It allows fast and easy access to key internal work servers during remote work. Kolon Group is also planning to review the adoption of MyOffice after a pilot application of about two months starting this month.
