Seongbuk-gu Launches 'Apartment Senior Security Guards'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held the '2021 Seongbuk-gu Apartment Senior Security Guard Launch Ceremony' at the Seongbuk-gu Office on the 9th to create safer apartments.
To comply with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, six seniors representing three apartment complexes and three managers of the management offices attended the event as senior security guard representatives.
The Seongbuk-gu Senior Security Guard project is part of revitalizing apartment communities and is conducted through open recruitment of seniors aged 65 and older residing in apartments. They volunteer by patrolling rest areas inside and outside the complexes and public facilities to prevent residents' anxiety factors and safety accidents.
Senior security guard representatives Kim Yong-seon and Ham Myeong-ok pledged through a resolution reading, "As volunteers protecting residents' safety and peaceful living, we will take the lead in making apartment complexes better places to live by patrolling inside and outside the complexes."
Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "While patrolling, please inform the management office if you see any dangers to young students, hazardous elements, or inconveniences within the complex. I hope you live a healthy and vibrant life through these activities. Above all, please prioritize your health and safety by avoiding patrols during heatwave hours, resting if you feel unwell, and following distancing guidelines such as wearing masks and hand sanitizing."
