Outdoor Cinema and Camping Zone Opened in Front of Shin Young Securities from 14th to 18th... Urban Relaxation with Masterpiece Films like 'Lala Girl' and '1917' and Busking Performances
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] An outdoor cinema will be set up in front of Shin Young Securities (16 Gukjegeumyung-ro 8-gil, Yeouido).
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will hold the ‘Yeouido Cinemascape’ event from the 14th to the 18th in front of Shin Young Securities.
This event is a catalytic project for regional revitalization under the Yeouido Financial Promotion District Town Management initiative. Visitors to the venue can watch movies sitting on bean bags placed on artificial grass in front of the screen.
During the event, from 1 PM to 3 PM, director Rachel Griffiths’ ‘Larrgirl’ (2020) will be screened, and from 3 PM to 7 PM, director Sam Mendes’ ‘1917’ (2020) will be shown. ‘1917’ is a masterpiece that was nominated for Best Picture alongside Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Parasite’ at the 92nd Academy Awards.
Additionally, to provide a relaxing urban experience, spaces such as the ‘Urban Garden’?decorated with artificial grass, parasols, and rest facilities?and the ‘City Camping Zone,’ a camping-themed area for those thirsty for travel amid COVID-19, are expected to fully satisfy visitors’ leisure needs.
At the City Camping Zone, busking performances will be available from 12 PM to 12:30 PM, coinciding with lunchtime for office workers.
The district will also conduct on-site surveys for visitors, collecting various opinions including daily inconveniences, ideas for public space utilization, and proposals for the development of the financial hub.
The opening hours for ‘Yeouido Cinemascape’ are from 11 AM to 7 PM. The district will implement strict quarantine measures including visitor QR check-in, temperature checks, hand sanitization, and regular disinfection of the venue.
The number of participants will also be controlled to remain within 99 people.
Meanwhile, on the 17th, during the event period, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Shin Young Securities, and From will sign a mutual cooperation agreement for the ‘Yeouido Town Management Project’ in the Shin Young Securities conference room.
Town management is a new urban regeneration model that shifts city management from being government-centered to private-led. It is a ‘governance-type urban management’ project where certified private organizations revitalize the central business district, which has lost momentum due to urban hollowing, by managing public spaces and operating programs.
Through this agreement, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Shin Young Securities, and From will establish governance from the basic planning stage for regional revitalization, discuss directions for public land improvement, and strengthen project implementation.
Furthermore, since private participation is key to the town management project, the district plans to continuously discover companies within the target area to participate in the project.
