[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it presented certificates and encouragement money to Kim Nam-hee (52) and Park Jun-young (18), who were selected as the 10th and 11th Righteous Gimhae Citizens.
Ms. Kim was the first to discover a security guard who had lost consciousness and collapsed in the flowerbed of an apartment in Eobang-dong around 9 a.m. last April. She performed CPR on the guard while video-calling 119 paramedics, enabling a prompt response within the golden time to save a precious life.
Ms. Kim said, “While operating a daytime care center, I had received training on CPR, and I was very happy to hear the news that he regained his health.”
Mr. Park, on the 12th of last month, noticed a middle-aged man hanging on the railing of a pedestrian overpass in Jinyeong and sensed a dangerous situation, so he tried to talk to him.
Although the man said he would return home, Mr. Park was not reassured and called 112. He then followed the man for about 600 meters. When the man climbed onto the railing of Juchon Bridge, risking falling below the bridge, Mr. Park hugged the suicide attempter from behind to stop the attempt and handed him over to the police who arrived on the scene.
