[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise Associations issued a statement on the 11th, urging the parcel delivery workers' union to call off their strike, stating that "the total strike by the parcel delivery union is causing severe damage to small business owners."
The Federation expressed, "We sympathize with the parcel delivery union's claim that there is a need to expand the workforce dedicated to parcel sorting," but added, "(However) the reality is that while this issue is being discussed in a social consensus body, the strike is causing irreparable harm to companies, consumers, and especially small business owners."
They continued, "Many small business owners ship local specialties or fresh agricultural and marine products via parcel delivery, and these products are rotting," emphasizing, "Not only fresh food but also all products including manufactured goods are experiencing delivery delays, threatening the survival of small business owners due to customer loss and payment disruptions."

The Federation pointed out that the parcel delivery union should return to work and resolve the issue through dialogue. They stated, "We hope that efforts to resolve the problem through dialogue in the social consensus body will lead to an efficient supply plan for parcel sorting personnel," and added, "The government should also play a mediating role and accelerate improvement measures for sorting work, including support for implementing sorting automation as per the first agenda of the social consensus body."
Furthermore, the Federation warned, "If the parcel delivery union's strike, which holds small business owners and the entire nation hostage, continues, the survival of small business owners will be threatened, adversely affecting the national economy and ultimately undermining the legitimacy of the strike."
