[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, who challenged the People Power Party leadership race, mentioned the "harshness of politics" in relation to her emotional moment during a TV debate. The issue of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol joining the People Power Party remained the biggest topic in the leadership race.
On the 9th, former lawmaker Na said through social media (SNS), "I guess some of you were a bit surprised by my momentary emotional reaction during yesterday's debate," adding, "It was not due to feelings of unfairness or resentment. Suddenly, I thought of my family. Apologies, and the harshness of politics briefly made it difficult for me."
On the same day, on YTN Radio's 'Hwang Bo-seon's Morning Start,' former lawmaker Na also expressed regret over former floor leader Joo Ho-young's criticism of her hardline stance during her past tenure, saying, "Those who could not say a word about the problems of the Moon Jae-in administration always appear when times get better, and those who call themselves reformers within the party engage in so-called internal attacks," adding, "It was unfortunate to see the difference in positions between the party reform forces and those who quietly protect the party."
On the day the public opinion poll for the general public began, People Power Party candidates continued their attacks against each other.
Former lawmaker Na criticized former Supreme Council member Lee Jun-seok by listing his remarks about former Prosecutor General Yoon, saying, "He shows an attitude as if excluding former Prosecutor General Yoon, and wouldn't Yoon have skeptical thoughts about whether he can really compete fairly in this party (People Power Party)?"
Former Supreme Council member Lee said, "It is really absurd to try to label someone who keeps sending messages about unification with the theory of excluding Yoon Seok-yeol, no matter how much it is an election," adding, "Since fair competition was guaranteed, he can participate in the presidential primary and play a great role."
After a press conference appealing for support at the National Assembly communication office, Representative Joo said to reporters, "I hope that former Prosecutor General Yoon does not hesitate or make other choices because of our party convention results," adding, "Party members and the public know why former Prosecutor General Yoon seems to have changed his attitude." This points to a perceived change in former Prosecutor General Yoon's stance regarding joining the People Power Party due to former Supreme Council member Lee.
