Courier Union "Social Agreement Breakdown... Indefinite Strike Starting Tomorrow" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The National Courier Workers' Union announced that following the breakdown of the second round of social agreement negotiations held on the 8th, union members with the right to strike will commence an indefinite full-scale strike starting from the 9th.
On the same day, the Courier Workers' Union held a press conference in front of the National Assembly in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, declaring, "The social agreement body, which approached the talks with the attitude that this was the final negotiation, failed to reach an agreement. Therefore, starting tomorrow, all union members nationwide with the right to strike will begin an indefinite full-scale strike."
Jin Kyung-ho, chairman of the Courier Workers' Union, stated, "Formally, the surface reason for the breakdown is that the Agency Association did not participate today, making it impossible to reach a social agreement. However, the core reason for the breakdown is that the courier companies are delaying the conclusion of the social agreement and requesting a one-year postponement of its implementation."
Chairman Jin added, "Union members without the right to strike will continue their current protest of starting work at 9 a.m. and beginning deliveries at 11 a.m."
According to the Courier Workers' Union, approximately 2,100 union members with the right to strike will join the general strike starting tomorrow. Post office courier services, where individual sorting work is not conducted, are effectively in a strike state, and courier companies that temporarily conduct sorting work will strictly load only individually sorted packages, according to the union.

We also declare that if anyone requests dialogue at any time, we will not avoid it and will actively engage in negotiations to reach a settlement."
