The ‘DNA+US-Based Enterprise Youth Job Project’ aims to create post-COVID youth jobs related to eight core fields directly linked to the Korean New Deal policy: AR/VR, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Big Data, Blockchain, Autonomous Vehicles, Drones, and Smart Factories.
Eighty unemployed youths under the age of 39 residing in Jeollanam-do have been employed since March in companies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution such as data, networks, and artificial intelligence located in Mokpo, Naju, Suncheon, and Gwangyang, and will gain practical experience as ‘Jeonnam-type 4th Industrial Youth Workforce’ over the next two years.
This training was prepared to enhance the competitiveness and capabilities of participating youths in performing their duties and was conducted online over three days due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the first day, common theoretical education was provided on the themes of ‘4th Industrial Revolution and Economic Change’ and ‘Acceleration of Digital Transformation,’ and on the second and third days, practical training was conducted in specialized fields such as ‘Big Data,’ ‘AR/VR,’ and ‘AI.’
In particular, to overcome the one-way nature of non-face-to-face education, the curriculum was designed to be practice-centered rather than theory-focused, and specialized instructors assigned tasks tailored to each job to the participating youths and provided direct feedback, making the field-specific practical training very popular.
Chae Yoo-jung, a young employee working at the participating company Terafix Co., Ltd., said, “It was good to receive advanced training on AR technology currently being developed in the company,” and added, “The customized training was very helpful as the instructors asked about each participant’s detailed job and provided tailored education.”
Lee Jun-geun, director of the Promotion Agency who prepared this training, stated, “The advent of COVID-19 and the 4th Industrial Revolution is expected to bring many changes to the industrial ecosystem,” and added, “We will strive to create sustainable youth jobs centered on future-oriented convergence industries based on DNA+US.”
