Democratic Party's Kang Byung-won "Anti-Corruption Commission Should Disclose Real Estate Investigation List"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Kang Byung-won, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed the opinion that the list of results from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's full-scale real estate investigation targeting party lawmakers should be made public.
On the 8th, Kang appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "We made a promise to the public," adding, "At the time of conducting this full-scale investigation, we said we would accept it rigorously, and former floor leader Kim Tae-nyeon promised to disclose the list of illegal activities."
He continued, "We must keep the promise made to the public," and said, "There are suspicions of legal violations, and although the facts have not been confirmed by judicial authorities, since our party made a promise, I think it is necessary to disclose that 12 lawmakers have certain suspicions."
He noted that he had not discussed this with other Supreme Council members and that it was his personal opinion. The Democratic Party held a closed Supreme Council meeting on the morning of the same day to discuss this issue.
Regarding party measures, he said, "Expulsion is a measure that seriously threatens a lawmaker's political life. But these are just suspicions," adding, "There are six cases of real estate name-trust suspicions, three cases of misuse of confidential information, six cases of violations of the Farmland Act, and one case of violation of the Building Act. Honestly, the Building Act violation is not a matter that warrants expulsion."

He emphasized that the matter should be viewed differently depending on the case. Kang said, "The misuse of confidential information was the root cause of the incident, wasn't it? Since it was the core issue, I think this part should be examined more closely."
