Record Weekend Attendance This Year 802,754... Smooth Sailing After Surpassing 700,000 Last Month
Three Hollywood films have driven the normalization of movie theaters. They are 'The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It,' 'Cruella,' and 'Fast & Furious 9: The Ultimate.' Each attracted over 150,000 viewers last weekend (June 4-6), injecting vitality into the box office.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on the 7th, the number of moviegoers visiting theaters last weekend was 802,754. This is the highest weekend record this year. After surpassing 700,000 for the first time on the fourth weekend of last month (May 21-23), the momentum continues.
The film that drew the most viewers was 'The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It.' It attracted 294,522 viewers across 1,133 screens (10,799 screenings). It recorded a seat occupancy rate of 18.0% and a box office share of 37.6%. The cumulative audience reached 345,763. 'Cruella' drew 247,613 viewers across 1,186 screens (10,456 screenings). This is a 10.1% increase (22,629 viewers) compared to the last weekend of last month (May 28-30), which had 224,984 viewers. The seat occupancy rate was 15.3%, with a cumulative audience of 664,320.
'Fast & Furious 9: The Ultimate' attracted 173,150 viewers across 1,161 screens (10,452 screenings). This is a 52.0% decrease (187,365 viewers) compared to the last weekend of last month. However, it recorded a seat occupancy rate close to 10% (9.8%) and became the third film this year to surpass 2 million cumulative viewers, reaching 2,049,953. It is trailing this year's highest-grossing film, 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train' (2,099,133 viewers), by 49,180 viewers.

This is a 71.5% increase (10,404 viewers) compared to the last weekend of last month. Following it were 'Pipeline' (13,136 viewers; cumulative 124,003), 'The Professor and the Madman' (5,856 viewers; cumulative 13,103), 'BanG Dream! Roselia Episode I: Promise' (5,401 viewers; cumulative 7,351), and 'Poupelle of Chimney Town' (4,964 viewers; cumulative 20,579).
