According to OK Savings Bank on the 5th, the award ceremony was attended by So-ra Lee, deputy manager of OK Savings Bank Cheongju Branch, who was the on-site employee during the voice phishing prevention, Jae-young Jeong, manager of OK Savings Bank Cheongju Branch, Woo-beom Lee, chief of Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station, and other related personnel.
Deputy Manager Lee prevented a 60-year-old customer, Mr. A, from falling victim to voice phishing when he attempted to withdraw 7.6 million KRW in cash earlier this month. Upon reviewing the completed questionnaire, she asked about the reason for the cash withdrawal, but Mr. A only replied that it was to lend to his child. However, when Mr. A was seen outside the branch saying "Yes, I found it" during a phone call, she reconfirmed the reason for the withdrawal.
Upon verification, it was found that Mr. A tried to withdraw cash after receiving a call from a police officer stating that his identity had been stolen, he was involved in a crime, and the amount was substantial. The number that instructed Mr. A to withdraw cash, claiming to be a police officer, was a number sent from a scammer.
