Participation of Marriage Immigrant Women Draws Attention... A Time to Understand Patriotism
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Kim Ji-yong) announced on the 4th that on the 3rd, it delivered handmade dumplings to the families of national veterans and war-disabled persons in Gwangyang City, spreading warm emotions.
The Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group held a "Making Dumplings of Love" event to express respect and gratitude to a total of 60 families of national veterans and their families in honor of June, the Month of Patriots and Veterans. They carefully made about 1,500 "Love-Filled (饌) Dumplings," packed tightly with fresh ingredients they prepared themselves.
The "Making Dumplings of Love" event held on the 1st was conducted with strict personal hygiene and fever checks for participants to prevent COVID-19 cluster infections. The made dumplings were frozen and delivered on the 3rd through the National Veterans and Patriots Organizations Council.
In particular, this "Making Dumplings of Love" event was even more meaningful as multicultural family neighbors, who had formed bonds through volunteer activities, participated together. Marriage immigrant women carefully made dumplings stitch by stitch, gaining a deeper understanding of Korea and the noble patriotism of the Korean War veterans.
Lee Young-soo, head of the Production Technology Department at Gwangyang Steelworks, said, "It is regrettable that we seem to be gradually forgetting our gratitude toward national veterans and their families who sacrificed for the country," adding, "Although small, I hope the dumplings filled with sincerity convey our thanks and respect well to the national veterans."
Kang Dong-hyun, chairman of the National Veterans and Patriots Organizations Council, said, "I was very worried as interest around us decreased due to COVID-19, but I am truly grateful to the Gwangyang Steelworks Friends Volunteer Group for not forgetting and coming to visit us."
