Rising Pet Market... Gwangjin-gu, Customized Youth Workforce Training
Gwangjin-gu Operates 'On-Site Customized Companion Animal Industry Workforce Training Course'... Recruiting 20 Unemployed Youths Aged 39 or Younger Living in Seoul Until the 20th of This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is operating a ‘Field-tailored Companion Animal Industry Workforce Training Program’ for local youth in line with the growing companion animal industry market.
This project is part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘2021 Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project,’ through which the district secured 63 million KRW in national funding by winning the recent competition.
The district, in collaboration with the Korea Kennel Association, will run a practice-centered professional education course for youth seeking employment in related fields and connect them to jobs at local companion animal companies.
The program targets 20 unemployed individuals aged 39 or younger residing in Seoul, with preference given to Gwangjin-gu residents. Full tuition is supported, and a certificate of completion is issued upon attending more than 80% of the course.
The education will be conducted over 10 weeks starting July 5, beginning with career analysis and counseling to identify participants’ desired fields. The curriculum includes ▲Understanding Companion Animals and Basic Theory ▲Dog Grooming and Basic Veterinary Technician Training ▲Pet Training and Aromatherapy Education ▲Pet Food and Animal Nutrition Education, along with professional education and general courses on industry trends, services, and marketing.
Especially since the companion animal industry deals with living beings, more than 50% of the course will consist of practical training and field visits to help participants learn on-site and strengthen their capabilities.
Youth interested in participating can fill out the application form posted on the Korea Kennel Association’s website and submit it via email by June 20.
