[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 2nd that it received a multifunctional negative pressure ambulance donated by the Suncheon Central Rotary Club of Rotary International District 3610.
The Suncheon Central Rotary Club (President Yoo Sung-chae), in collaboration with six Rotary Clubs including the Taipei Rotary Club in Taiwan, donated a multifunctional negative pressure ambulance worth 175 million KRW to the Suncheon City Health Center's ambulance fleet.
The donation ceremony was attended by Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, Woo Kwang-il, Governor of Rotary International District 3610, as well as many current and former governors from Districts 3710 and 3590. Also present was In Yo-han, Director of the International Medical Center at Yonsei University Severance Hospital and the developer of Korea's first Korean-style ambulance.
The city had been operating with one existing ambulance to transport COVID-19 confirmed patients and overseas arrivals simultaneously, relying on fire station ambulances for support during mass patient outbreaks. However, with this multifunctional negative pressure ambulance, the transportation system for patients with COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases can be improved.
