View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo stated in his inaugural speech, "As Prosecutor General, I will become a steadfast bulwark to protect political neutrality and independence from all unjust pressures."
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 1st, Prosecutor General Kim said, "I will grant autonomy and responsibility to the front lines so that members of the prosecution can perform their duties fairly and creatively for the people."
He added, "The Supreme Prosecutors' Office will communicate sufficiently with the front lines, provide support, and ensure that commands are reasonable and appropriate based on substantive truth and correct legal principles."
He identified "a trusted prosecution" as the top priority for the prosecution.
Prosecutor General Kim emphasized, "The prosecution became a target of reform because its performance did not meet the public's expectations and failed to keep up with the demands of changing times. We must boldly innovate investigative practices and organizational culture to become a trusted prosecution."
He also stated that the prosecution must become "people-centered." He added that all prosecutorial work should shift from being "organization-centered" to "people-centered."
He stressed that the prosecution should become "fair" by increasing transparency in prosecutorial work through expanded disclosure of criminal case records and trial information.
Prosecutor General Kim further mentioned the need to create an organizational culture that communicates democratically and cooperatively, and to actively engage in dialogue with related agencies such as the Ministry of Justice. He also referred to the principle of "Silsa Gushi (實事求是)"?seeking truth from facts?urging that work and investigations be conducted by carefully examining specific circumstances.
