Naju Mayor Kang In-gyu Holds 'Ontact' Dialogue with Youths
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 1st that it held an ‘Ontact Conversation’ session with local youth on the 31st of last month to address youth concerns and share policies.
Ontact is a concept combining Untact, which refers to non-face-to-face communication, with ‘On’ indicating connection through online means, and has been gaining attention as a non-face-to-face online communication method to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The conversation was held using the video conferencing platform Zoom, with about 40 young people recommended by eup, myeon, and dong participating, active in various areas of life.
Mayor Kang created a pleasant and comfortable conversation atmosphere by conducting a Naju knowledge quiz with the youth.
The youth inquired about topics such as ‘employment opportunity provision measures for unemployed youth,’ ‘discovery of welfare blind spots for the disabled and expansion of benefits,’ and ‘expected timing of COVID-19 vaccination.’
They also suggested ‘promotion of pre- and postnatal parent education,’ ‘arranging dialogue opportunities among young farmers,’ and ‘online entrepreneurship education and platform establishment for career-interrupted women.’
Mayor Kang explained plans for providing various employment services through the completion of the Comprehensive Employment Support Center this month, discovering omitted beneficiaries in disability support projects, efficient operation of the Disabled Persons’ Federation Hall, and vaccination plans to secure herd immunity this year.
He also promised to promote customized child-rearing education for prospective parents, expand communication opportunities among young farmers including those returning to farming, and provide startup support services for early entrepreneurs.
The city plans to hold a second Ontact conversation with citizens in October following the session with local youth.
