Goheung-gun Solely Selected for Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Dedicated Cultural Arts Education Facility Support Project Competition
The Former Lifelong Education Center Transformed into a Cultural and Arts Education Hub in Goheung-gun
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 31st that it has been finally selected as the sole winner in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public contest project to support dedicated cultural and arts education facilities for future generations (hereinafter referred to as Dreaming Art Space).
The Dreaming Art Space support project is a regional-centered initiative to create and operate dedicated cultural and arts education spaces where creative cultural and arts education programs can be accessed regularly, similar to Finland's Anantalo Art Center.
A total of five cities and counties nationwide applied for this contest, and after the first document screening, second on-site evaluation, and third comprehensive review, Goheung-gun was the only one selected, making this achievement highly significant.
The Dreaming Art Space project, the first of its kind in Jeollanam-do, will invest a total of 2 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW from the national government and 1 billion KRW from the county, to remodel the former Goheung Lifelong Education Center located in Goheung-eup into a dedicated cultural and arts education space for children, adolescents, and local residents.
Under the theme of ‘Goheung-gun Dreaming Art Space Art Garden’ for the aesthetic value of life, aiming to open next year, the project plans to establish a cultural and arts education hub connecting regions and generations through programs such as ▶Art Exploration Camp ▶Toy Classroom ▶Art Workshop ▶Exhibition Room ▶Astronomy Classroom ▶Thinking Hands Workshop ▶Rooftop Art Garden.
