EY Hanyoung, Fully Committed to Spreading a Culture of Diversity and Inclusion
[Asia Economy Reporter Jihwan Park] EY Hanyoung announced on the 27th that it designated the second week of May as the ‘Week of Diversity and Inclusiveness’ and conducted various activities such as external lectures to establish a culture of diversity and inclusion.
‘Diversity and Inclusiveness’ is one of the core elements of EY Global’s organizational growth vision strategy. To solve the increasingly complex challenges of the world, the diverse experiences and perspectives of the people addressing these problems are becoming more important. Yonggeun Park, CEO of EY Hanyoung, emphasized, “EY Hanyoung respects the individual tendencies and backgrounds of each employee and considers diversity and inclusion as a competitive advantage of the organization.”
To further spread this culture of diversity and inclusion, EY Hanyoung designated May 10th to 14th as the ‘Week of Diversity and Inclusiveness.’ During this period, EY Hanyoung announced the establishment of an internal community called ‘Korea Unity Network,’ composed of sexual minorities (LGBT+) and supporters. Employees who are sexual minorities and those who support them will voluntarily join the community.
EY Hanyoung also held internal special lectures on cultural diversity and female leadership by inviting external speakers. Mark Teto, co-CEO of TCK Investment and a cast member of the TV show ‘Non-Summit,’ gave a lecture on the topic of ‘Embracing Cultural Differences.’ He advised, “Embracing cultural differences is a choice, but cultural diversity creates new opportunities. If you can choose and bring opportunities, you should choose the path of inclusion and set goals for it.”
Jangsung Sook, CEO of Wooshin Pigment and winner of the Female Entrepreneur Award at the 13th EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in 2019, shared her growth process and experiences in a special lecture on ‘Female Leadership.’ CEO Jang said, “The answer is always on the ground,” adding, “My accumulated field experience has given me confidence in my business.”
