Seoul Asan Medical Center Launches ESG Committee, First Among General Hospitals
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Seoul Asan Medical Center announced on the 27th that it has launched an ESG Committee, the first among domestic general hospitals, to establish a sustainable development direction in cooperation with the local community and the medical sector.
ESG stands for Environment, Social, and Governance, which are non-financial factors that have recently emerged as key elements for sustainable management.
The Seoul Asan Medical Center ESG Committee held its first meeting on the 21st in the hospital's main conference room, starting with a special lecture titled "Medical Institutions and ESG" by Professor Kim Hwa-jin of Seoul National University Law School, to discuss the direction of ESG management.
To establish sustainable ESG management policies, the hospital appointed six internal members including Chairperson of the ESG Committee and Deputy Director of Medical Affairs Lee Je-hwan, as well as three external members: Professor Park Heung-seok of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Ulsan University, Professor Seok Jae-eun of the Department of Social Welfare at Hallym University, and Choi Myung-joo, CEO of Mia & Consulting.
Seoul Asan Medical Center plans to continuously implement eco-friendly management, social responsibility, and transparent management through the ESG Committee.
