'P4G Seoul Green Future Summit Green Finance Special Session' to be Held on the 29th

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] The '2021 P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Seoul Green Future Summit Green Finance Special Session' will be held on the 29th.
The Financial Services Commission announced on the 27th that the Green Finance Special Session will be held online at 8 p.m. on the 29th at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul. Anyone can freely watch it through the official P4G Seoul Summit website, as well as the Financial Services Commission website and YouTube channel.
High-level officials from home and abroad will participate in the Green Finance Special Session to discuss the 'Role of Finance for Post-COVID-19 Green Recovery.'
International participants include senior experts from climate and finance-related international organizations such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), World Economic Forum (WEF), International Finance Corporation (IFC), Bank for International Settlements (BIS), European Investment Bank (EIB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Domestic participants include Eun Sung-soo, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission; Han Jeong-ae, Minister of Environment; Lee Dong-geol, Chairman of Korea Development Bank; and Kim Yong-jin, Chairman of the National Pension Service.
The Green Finance Special Session will begin with an opening address by Chairman Eun. In his opening remarks, Chairman Eun will review the future tasks of global green finance and call for cooperation among the global financial sector for carbon neutrality. In particular, he will introduce Korea's green finance policies actively promoted following last year's declaration of the 2050 carbon neutrality vision and convey a message of close cooperation with the international community to revitalize green finance.
Following the opening address, keynote speeches will be delivered by Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum; and Makhtar Diop, CEO of the International Finance Corporation. Subsequently, key domestic and international high-level officials will hold a panel discussion on topics such as ▲the current status of global green finance ▲climate-related disclosures and green investment markets ▲the role of public financial institutions for green finance.

A Financial Services Commission official said, "The Green Finance Special Session will serve as an opportunity to re-emphasize the importance of finance in responding to climate change," adding, "It is expected to contribute to inducing interest and participation from the domestic financial sector in green finance, which is a new growth opportunity."
