[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Samsung Electronics launched the 'Bespoke Shoe Dresser,' which deodorizes, dries, and sterilizes shoes, on the 27th.
Reflecting consumer trends that seek hygienic management not only for clothing but also for shoes, the Bespoke Shoe Dresser is a shoe care device that utilizes the core technology of the AirDresser, 'Air Wash,' and an advanced ultraviolet (UV) technology.
According to a recent survey conducted by Samsung Electronics targeting domestic consumers, the biggest concern when managing shoes was deodorization.
The Bespoke Shoe Dresser applies a dedicated accessory called the 'Jet Shoe Tree' to conveniently hold various shoes such as sneakers and long boots, and during operation, the Air Wash helps reach every corner of the shoes to shake off odor particles.
Additionally, the 'UV Odor Decomposition Filter' breaks down the odor particles shaken off by the Air Wash, removing 95% of five odor-causing substances including isovaleric acid, which causes sweat odor, and butanedione, which causes foot odor.
The Bespoke Shoe Dresser is equipped with 'Low-Temperature Delicate Drying Heat Pump' technology that dries moisture inside the shoes caused by sweat or external environments at a temperature below 40℃, similar to human body temperature, maintaining the shoes in a comfortable state.
The upper compartment of the Bespoke Shoe Dresser is the first in domestic home appliances to apply a 'Xenon UVC Lamp,' effectively eliminating various viruses and harmful bacteria. This allows for the removal of 99.9% of viruses such as influenza, adenovirus, herpes, and enterovirus, as well as harmful bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, which are attached to the exterior of shoes. The sterilization performance against viruses and harmful bacteria has been verified by Intertek, an internationally accredited testing and certification organization.
The Bespoke Shoe Dresser can manage up to three pairs of shoes simultaneously, and regardless of the type of shoes, in addition to the generally usable basic course, optimized courses for hiking boots, dress shoes, golf shoes, rain boots, boots, and wet sneakers can be additionally downloaded through the SmartThings mobile app.
This product can create a harmonious interior whether placed in a dressing room, living room, entrance, or anywhere in the home, and like the Bespoke refrigerator, the door panels can be purchased separately and replaced.
Samsung Electronics also offers a 'Lifetime Warranty' service for the digital inverter motor and compressor of the Bespoke Shoe Dresser, providing free parts repair or replacement if a malfunction occurs while the consumer is using the product.
The Bespoke Shoe Dresser is available in four colors: Kota White, Kota Charcoal, Glam Greenery, and Glam Sun Yellow. The retail price ranges from 999,000 to 1,099,000 KRW.
Yang Hyesoon, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliance Business Division, said, "We introduced the Shoe Dresser to alleviate consumers' concerns about shoes worn daily by providing hygienic shoe care," adding, "We will continue to introduce new innovative products so that consumers can experience a more comfortable lifestyle."
