Seo Ji-hyun Appeals After Losing Civil Lawsuit Against Ahn Tae-geun and the State
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Prosecutor Seo Ji-hyun, who lost a lawsuit seeking damages against former Ministry of Justice Prosecutor General Ahn Tae-geun and the state for sexual harassment and personnel disadvantages, has filed an appeal.
According to the legal community on the 26th, Prosecutor Seo submitted a notice of appeal to the Civil Division 93 of the Seoul Central District Court on the same day.
Previously, Prosecutor Seo filed a lawsuit claiming that former Director Ahn forcibly harassed her while serving as head of the Ministry of Justice Policy Planning Division in 2018 and retaliated against her with personnel actions after being promoted to Prosecutor General of the Ministry of Justice, but she was ruled against on the 14th. The court held that Prosecutor Seo was aware of both the facts of the forced harassment and the perpetrator but did not file a lawsuit for over three years, resulting in the statute of limitations being completed.

Meanwhile, in the related criminal case, former Director Ahn was found guilty in both the first and second trials and sentenced to two years in prison, but the Supreme Court strictly interpreted the law on abuse of authority and overturned the ruling on the grounds of innocence. Subsequently, the not guilty verdict from the retrial was finalized.
