Gokseong-gun, Talent Donation for Harmony with Local Residents by the Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration Council
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced on the 26th that the Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Association carried out talent donation activities on the 24th and 25th, including replacing old mailboxes for local residents.
The Gokseong-gun Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Association conducts various activities related to returning to farming and rural areas with the support of the county. Among these, talent donation is an important activity that connects returnees and local residents as one community, and it has been continuously promoted for several years.
This talent donation activity, conducted targeting Wandung 1-gu to 3-gu in Samgi-myeon, Hakdong Village, and Deokdong Village, involved about 10 association members. The members went around the villages and replaced mailboxes for 120 households. Also, to comply with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, instead of dining with residents, they shared warmth by providing carefully prepared lunch boxes.
Resident A said, “Recently, we renovated the village fence, but the old mailboxes remained, so it didn’t look harmonious. However, with the returnees replacing the mailboxes this time, the village has become much brighter. Who lived here first doesn’t matter. I believe living by helping each other is what makes everyone happy.”
The chairman of the Gokseong-gun Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Association said, “The talent donation event will be an opportunity to break down barriers with local residents and bring people closer. Also, many returnees do not know each other well, but through talent donation, they form personal networks.”
