Gwangju City Holds Meeting with Local Lawmakers' Staff for Next Year's National Budget Securing
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City held a meeting on the 24th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building between Moon Young-hoon, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office, heads of departments handling current issues, and aides of local National Assembly members.
This meeting was organized to enhance the National Assembly's understanding of major national budget projects for next year discovered by Gwangju City and local issues, and to discuss support and response measures.
The city explained a total of 26 projects (KRW 510.2 billion) for next year's national budget, including ▲ Establishment of an AI-centered industrial convergence complex ▲ National High Magnetic Field Research Institute construction service ▲ Expansion of the 5.18 World Heritage Preservation Facility ▲ Establishment of the National Trauma Healing Center ▲ Construction of the Gwangju Biennale Exhibition Hall ▲ Expansion of funding for the Asia Culture Center City project ▲ Promotion of eco-friendly air industry ▲ Advancement of convenience interior parts industry for autonomous vehicles ▲ Establishment of Gwangju Medical Center ▲ Installation of a Convergence Support Center for Developmental Disabilities ▲ Expansion of the Gwangju Songjeong Station complex transfer center platform station ▲ Construction of Gwangju Urban Railway Line 2 ▲ Attraction of the National Honam Youth Didim Center, and sought active cooperation for securing the national budget.
In addition, three major local issues?▲ Construction of the Daegu-Gwangju Dalbit Inland Railway ▲ Promotion of the Gwangju Military Airport Relocation Project ▲ Establishment of the Hwangryonggang Ecotourism Belt?were discussed in depth, requesting cooperation and interest for successful project implementation.

Moon Young-hoon, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office of the city, said, “As of this month, budget reviews by government ministries are concluding, and before the next year's national budget work is fully underway, we held this meeting to enhance understanding among working-level officials. We will further strengthen cooperation with local National Assembly offices and do our best to secure next year's national budget and resolve current issues.”
