Ministry of Education Selects Four Universities for 'Remote University Education Innovation Support Project'

Plan to Develop Remote Education Specialized Model with 350 Million KRW Support Annually for 3 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education has selected four universities to support financially in order to develop a model for innovation in remote university education.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Education, Korea Education and Research Information Service, and Korea Association of Remote Universities announced that Digital Seoul Culture Arts University, Busan Digital University, Seoul Cyber University, and Hanyang Cyber University were selected as the recipients of the '2021 Remote University Education Innovation Support Project.'
The Ministry of Education will provide financial support of 350 million KRW annually to each of the four universities for a total of three years. These four universities will develop specialized education models based on the characteristics of remote universities and play a role in spreading these models to other remote universities.
Digital Seoul Culture Arts University designed an education innovation model called the 'Quantum Jump' program, which links five areas: curriculum, teaching methods, students, industry-academia cooperation, and glocal dissemination, presenting an education model that enables adult learners to engage in self-directed learning. Busan Digital University was highly evaluated for its plan to establish a 'Department of Social Welfare Big Data' by integrating human service engineering and big data.
Seoul Cyber University was recognized for systematically designing an online teaching and learning model focused on strengthening military talent capabilities. Hanyang Cyber University plans to develop a curriculum linking humanities literacy, law, systems, and content production, establish a 'Convergence Shared Major,' and develop a lifelong education platform based on industry-academia re-education.

Jung Byung-ik, Director of the Lifelong Future Education Bureau at the Ministry of Education, stated, "By disseminating various remote education models, we plan to prepare for the expansion of adult learners' demand for remote education and expand social customized education opportunities for adults by establishing a foundation for convergence education."
