Seoul Gangseo-gu, Inspection of Compliance with Quarantine Rules in Urban Parks
Intensive Crackdown on Non-Compliance with Quarantine Rules Such as Not Wearing Masks... Targeting 16 Neighborhood Parks from May 24 to June 6
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is launching a special inspection of quarantine rules in urban parks to coincide with May, the month of family, when outdoor activities increase.
The district announced that from the 24th of this month to June 6th, it will conduct intensive enforcement of compliance with quarantine rules at 16 neighborhood parks in the area.
This is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community and create a pleasant park environment as park visitors increase due to the rise in outdoor activities during spring.
The intensive enforcement will be carried out by inspection teams consisting of 34 members in 5 groups, who will patrol 16 neighborhood parks with many visitors, including Ujangsan, Kkachisan, and Sumyeongsan.
In particular, inspections will be strengthened on sports facilities within the parks such as badminton courts, jokgu courts, and tennis courts where many people can gather, aiming to eliminate blind spots in quarantine.
For parks where conflicts with visitors are expected during enforcement, joint inspections will be conducted in cooperation with the local police precinct in advance.
The targets of enforcement are violations of quarantine rules such as not wearing masks and violating gathering bans.
Visitors who violate quarantine rules will be subject to on-site guidance and fines. For sports facilities, if violations are detected three or more times, not only will fines be imposed on the offenders, but temporary closure of the facilities will also be enforced.
Before the full-scale enforcement, the district plans to encourage compliance with quarantine rules in parks through various online and offline promotions such as the district office website, SNS, and banners during a guidance period until the 23rd of this month.
In addition, the district plans to conduct intensive enforcement on violations related to pets such as not wearing leashes and not collecting waste, frequently occurring complaints such as noise and smoking in each park, and other prohibited acts within parks to create a pleasant park environment.
A district official said, “This intensive enforcement is being carried out to provide a safer and more pleasant environment for residents visiting the parks,” and added, “We ask residents to strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks and social distancing when using parks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
