KOSPI Weak in Early Session Records '3160 Level'...Individual Investors Buy Alone
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] The KOSPI is showing weakness in early trading on the 20th due to simultaneous selling by foreigners and institutions.
As of 9:23 AM, the KOSPI is at 3167.85, down 0.16% (5.20 points) from the previous day. The index opened at 3174.53, up 1.48 points (0.05%). However, it soon turned downward, dropping to the 3150 level before narrowing the decline.
In early trading, individual investors are defending the index by net buying. Individuals net bought 182 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold 37.1 billion KRW and 149.1 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, performance was mixed. LG Chem (2.27%), Samsung Electronics (0.13%), SK Hynix (0.47%), NAVER (0.29%), and Kakao (0.88%) rose. Conversely, Samsung Biologics (-2.46%), Hyundai Motor (-0.87%), Samsung SDI (-0.16%), Celltrion (-0.55%), and Kia (-1.45%) declined.
The KOSDAQ is up 0.15% (1.46 points) from the previous day, standing at 970.56. The index started the session at 968.35, down 0.75 points (0.08%) from the previous close of 969.10, but successfully reversed to an upward trend.
On the KOSDAQ, individuals and foreigners net bought 22.8 billion KRW and 24.4 billion KRW, respectively. Only institutions net sold 39.5 billion KRW.

Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, all except EcoPro BM (2.72%) and SK Materials (2.06%) were down. Celltrion Healthcare (-0.43%), Celltrion Pharm (-0.30%), Seegene (-4.37%), and Pearl Abyss (2.03%) declined.
