View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 19th that its ‘Signature No-Label Clear Spring Water’ sold 1.34 million bottles in one month.
This product was launched on the 22nd of last month, and within 26 days, 620,000 bottles of 2L and 720,000 bottles of 500mL were sold nationwide in stores and online. The Signature No-Label Clear Spring Water is characterized by engraving the brand, product name, and manufacturing date directly onto the PET bottle instead of using a label.
Homeplus achieved a reduction in the use of 1.34 million labels. Since the weight of one label for the 2L product is about 0.8g and for the 500mL product about 0.3g, this eco-friendly product sales reduced plastic usage by approximately 710kg. If the saved labels (2L product label width 33cm, 500mL label 21.4cm) were connected end to end, they would stretch about 359km, exceeding the straight-line distance from Seoul to Busan (approximately 325km, based on Seoul City Hall to Busan City Hall).
In addition to no-label bottled water, Homeplus avoids unnecessary plastic or vinyl use in PB products, replaces containers with single materials that are easier to recycle, and continues to invest in eco-friendly packaging by expanding the introduction of eco-friendly containers and new material packaging.
