US State Department: "North Korean Human Rights at the Center of Diplomatic Policy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The U.S. Department of State rebutted concerns that raising human rights issues with North Korea could undermine the dialogue atmosphere, stating that "human rights are at the center of foreign policy."
A spokesperson from the U.S. Department of State told Radio Free Asia (RFA) and Voice of America (VOA) on the 17th (local time) in response to such remarks, "The United States is committed to placing human rights at the center of its foreign policy."
They added, "The United States is joining forces with like-minded partners to raise voices against human rights abuses," emphasizing, "The North Korean regime is responsible for exploiting its people and diverting resources to strengthen its nuclear and ballistic missile programs."
