KT, "Hyundai Heavy Industries and Robot Business Collaboration Startup Discovery Initiative"
KT-Hyundai Heavy Industries Group-Incheon Creative Economy Innovation Center, Hosting Excellent Robot Company Selection Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 16th that starting from the 17th, it will hold the 'Excellent Robot Company Selection Contest' together with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, Hyundai Robotics, and the Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (hereinafter Incheon Innovation Center) to expand the robot industry ecosystem.
The application period is from the 17th until 3 PM on June 30th, and the final results will be announced in August on the Incheon Innovation Center website after the first document screening and the second presentation evaluation. The total prize money amounts to 45 million KRW.
Selected companies will receive prize money along with benefits including ▲business commercialization funding worth a total of 50 million KRW ▲joint commercialization opportunities in the robot business with KT and Hyundai Robotics ▲opportunities to connect with Hyundai Robotics' robot service business ▲support for office space at the Incheon Innovation Center and IR opportunities ▲priority for residency in the 'Digico KT Open Lab' within the venture cluster 'Gwanak S Valley,' which KT is participating in establishing.
The selection targets are startups and small and medium-sized enterprises in the robot field that have completed business registration within 7 years as of the announcement date. Three companies will be selected through document and presentation evaluations. During the evaluation process, there will also be an opportunity for remote consulting with Professor Dennis Hong of UCLA, a world-renowned roboticist.
Through this contest, KT plans to discover robot companies that can create synergy with Hyundai Robotics' service robots and expand the robot platform ecosystem led by KT to startups and SMEs.
Song Jae-ho, Vice President and Head of KT AI·DX Convergence Business Division, said, "This contest aims to allow domestic startups to participate in the robot platform-based ecosystem led by KT," adding, "We will actively discover and collaborate with excellent startups and SMEs in the highly competitive robot field."
Companies wishing to participate should submit the application form and business plan along with supporting documents related to participation criteria to the Incheon Innovation Center email by 4 PM on June 30th. Detailed information can be found on the Incheon Innovation Center website.
