As crimes involving intruders disguising their identity to break into residential spaces have become a serious social issue, practical measures to protect oneself have become necessary. Interest in home security services is also increasing.
On the 13th, ADT Caps announced that inquiries about their smart home security product “CapsHome,” designed for residents of apartments, townhouses, villas, and general houses, have been rising. This product installs a small device with CCTV functionality on the front door, allowing users to monitor and respond to the situation at their doorstep in real time via a mobile app anytime and anywhere.
Since various crimes such as break-ins, stalking, and parcel theft can be prevented through a single service, demand is high. When a loiterer is detected in front of the house, recording automatically starts, notifications are sent to the user’s app, and an emergency dispatch function is supported in urgent situations. If necessary, warning voice messages such as “This area is under CapsHome security surveillance” can be broadcast to reduce the risk of incidents.
Households with children can minimize care gaps and check family safety in real time through the home security service. Equipped with an AI camera capable of facial recognition, “CapsHome” allows users to save family members’ faces in a dedicated app, enabling the camera installed at the entrance to distinguish family members and notify their entry and exit records. Because it records family members’ comings and goings in real time, dual-income couples can check not only whether their children have returned home but also their school and academy attendance times.
Security concerns arising from increased parcel and food deliveries during the COVID-19 era can also be alleviated. “CapsHome” lets users check the situation at the front door and communicate contactlessly through the dedicated app without opening the door or talking face-to-face when home alone, minimizing exposure to danger. When children are home alone, parents out can communicate with delivery personnel and control the situation via the app. It also serves to protect parcels. Users can check in real time via mobile whether parcels have arrived safely and are at the doorstep. If a parcel loss occurs, recorded footage can help resolve the issue. If parcels disappear from the front door, damage compensation services up to 500,000 KRW annually are available.
