Seongap Kim, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Starts Resident Dialogue on COVID-19 Response... Visits Junggok 2 and 3-dong on the 10th
Sharing COVID-19 and Vaccine Status and Gathering Opinions by Visiting All 15 Neighborhoods Until the 27th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) will hold a dialogue with residents to respond to COVID-19, called "U.Mun.Hyeon.Dap (Our Problems Have Answers On Site)," visiting 15 neighborhoods from the 10th to the 27th.
"U.Mun.Hyeon.Dap" was organized to share the current status of COVID-19 and vaccination in Gwangjin-gu with residents and to gather opinions for establishing a thorough quarantine system.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap of Gwangjin-gu visited Junggok 2-dong and Junggok 3-dong on the 10th as the first schedule. About 30 people, including residents, small business owners, and volunteers from each neighborhood, attended the event.
Mayor Kim said, "We are making efforts in various ways to build a thorough quarantine system, but gaps may occur," adding, "We decided to hold a dialogue with residents because we believe the answers to closing these gaps lie on site."
He continued, "Looking at the causes of infection, nearly 40% are infections among family members, with cluster infections and private gatherings of five or more people being the main causes," and said, "If there are ways to block the spread of infection, please suggest them anytime, and if there are problems in the quarantine system, please point them out."
He also emphasized that the only way to prevent COVID-19 is vaccination, sharing the vaccination schedule and status, and requested active participation from the residents.
The residents who attended the event asked questions about how to apply for vaccination and the vaccination schedule, taking the opportunity to resolve their concerns.
Finally, Mayor Kim appealed for active participation, saying, "Until 70% of all residents complete vaccination, the most important measures to block the spread of infection are 'having one family member get tested, getting tested immediately if symptoms appear, and banning private gatherings of five or more people.'"
In addition, voices from the field regarding local issues and civil complaints were heard, and plans for improvement were reviewed and discussed.
