View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Yoon Jae-gap, member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Haenam·Wando·Jindo), announced on the 10th that the elevation of the coastal tourism road connecting Wando and Goheung to a national highway, a long-standing wish of the local residents, has become visible as of the 6th.
This area is the only disconnected section in the Southwest Coastwide Transportation Network (Mokpo to Busan). Currently, to travel from Wando Gogeumdo to Goheung Geogeumdo, one must detour 130 km via Gangjin and Boseong, causing inconvenience to residents.
Once the local road (Route 830) connecting Wando and Goheung coastal tourism road is elevated to a national highway, a new bridge and road connecting Wando Gogeumdo and Goheung Geogeumdo will be constructed with approximately 900 billion KRW of national funds. This will significantly shorten the travel distance by 88 km, improving accessibility and reducing logistics costs.
Meanwhile, to promote the elevation of local road Route 830 for the creation of the Southwest Coast tourism and leisure belt, residents and expatriates from Haenam, Jindo, and Wando have actively participated in signature campaigns to support the elevation to a national highway.
