Gangdong-gu Expands Operation of 5th Eco-Friendly Local Food Unmanned Vending Machine
Open weekdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, selling more than 10 types of agricultural products
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has been operating eco-friendly local food unmanned vending machines, starting with the first store (Gangdong-gu Office Annex Building 2) on October 23, 2017, the first of its kind in Seoul, and has expanded to five locations to promote the sale of eco-friendly agricultural products and provide safe food.
In particular, under the slogan "Gangsangangso - Produced in Gangdong, Consumed in Gangdong," they provide safe food harvested from 18 certified eco-friendly farms within the region to residents, striving to revitalize Gangdong-gu local food.
At the eco-friendly local food unmanned vending machines, fresh agricultural products delivered from certified eco-friendly farms are directly packaged, displayed, and sold without distribution margin, following the principle of "selling agricultural products harvested the same day on the same day."
Remaining agricultural products after sales are stored in storage facilities to maintain freshness and sold until the next morning. Any leftover products are collected and donated to the Gangdong Food Market for low-income families.
The unmanned vending machines operate on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., selling more than 10 types of agricultural products such as leafy vegetables and salad greens produced within Gangdong-gu.
After selecting eco-friendly agricultural products, customers simply insert the amount indicated on the product into the payment slot. However, only cash or Zero Pay is accepted.
