100 Days in Office: Park Beom-gye "A Continuous Series of Perilous Days"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, confessed that his first 100 days in office have been "a continuous series of days like walking on a tightrope." Minister Park stated, "Through the mission of protecting human rights and judicial control, the organizational culture of the prosecution will improve."
On the 7th, Minister Park wrote on social media (SNS), "It has been 100 days since I started working as the Minister of Justice," adding, "I accepted the presidential appointment letter as a fateful task and have been running tirelessly, but it is true that there are shortcomings."
He continued, "Today, I also start the day with field administration. I will visit the Child Protection Agency in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, to discuss measures for protecting children's human rights," and added, "The field teaches us the living reality of people's livelihoods."
He also expressed his determination for prosecutorial reform. Minister Park said, "Following the establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the reform of investigative authority, great efforts are still needed for prosecutorial reform," and noted, "President Moon pointed out that there is a lack of improvement in the way prosecutorial power is exercised, investigative practices, and organizational culture."
Minister Park mentioned, "I have been having continuous dialogues with prosecutors and will continue to do so," and emphasized, "Through the mission of protecting human rights and judicial control, the organizational culture of the prosecution will improve."

Meanwhile, Minister Park began his term on January 28 as the successor to former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae. His first official schedule was a visit to the Seoul Eastern Detention Center, and on the 100th day of his inauguration, he visited the 'Gyeonggi Yongin Child Protection Agency' as part of his 16th policy field visit. Minister Park plans to hold a meeting to share cases of cooperation between the prosecution and the Child Protection Agency and to prepare improvement measures.
