500 Nutritional Snack Deliveries to Yeongdeungpo-gu Care SOS Meal Support Recipients
Two Packs of Tricolor Nurungji Made by Disabled Youth and Two Packs of Fruit Chip Nuts... Supported by Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will deliver nutritious snack sets to 500 vulnerable individuals, including elderly and disabled people receiving meal support from the Care SOS Center, in celebration of Family Month in May.
The district explained that due to the suspension of senior meal centers amid the spread of COVID-19 and prolonged social distancing measures weakening in-home care functions, they initiated the nutrition snack support project to supplement the nutrition of elderly and disabled individuals struggling to secure meals and to share the warmth of a caring community during Family Month in May.
The Care SOS Service is a public welfare service project supported by the District Office Welfare Policy Division as an integrated support center. It expands welfare recipients primarily among low-income groups to include elderly (65 years and older), disabled (all ages), and middle-aged (50 years and older), aiming to address individual care needs and provide customized welfare services.
The Care SOS meal support service delivers lunchboxes to users of four service providers: Seoul Yeongdeungpo Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, Aju Healthy Whisper, Dada Coop, and Guro Happy Lunchbox. A total of 500 people receive meal support services.
The nutritious snack set is delivered along with the lunchboxes and consists of two packs of three-color scorched rice and two packs of fruit chip nuts.
The snack sets are prepared by Asak Market, a social enterprise under Aju Healthy Whisper, with support from the Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council, and are healthy foods made directly by disabled youth.
Additionally, the outer surface of the snack box features a background decorated with carnations and includes a message expressing gratitude to the recipients who steadfastly endure difficult times without losing hope in life.
