Gwangju City, Public Survey to Select Three Main Candidate Agendas for Citizens' Assembly
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 4th that it will conduct a citizen opinion survey both online and offline to select three major candidate agendas to be presented at the ‘2021 Gwangju Citizens' Assembly’.
The Gwangju Citizens' Rights Committee recently held a review meeting and selected ten preliminary agendas from 144 proposals submitted through the online communication platform ‘BaroSotong Gwangju,’ including a walkable city, creation of urban gardens, revitalization of alleyway commercial districts, and bicycle-friendly city.
The ten preliminary agendas will be narrowed down to three major candidate agendas through online and offline citizen opinion surveys, and at the ‘2021 Gwangju Citizens' Assembly’ held on the Gwangju Citizens' Day on the 21st, the final agendas will be selected through citizen deliberation, discussion, and voting.
Online voting will be conducted randomly via mobile by a polling agency, and offline voting will be open to all citizens at 15 district administrative welfare centers.
If a citizen’s proposed agenda is selected as the final agenda (one person), incentives such as a Sangsaeng Card worth up to 2 million KRW will be provided, and the agenda will be reflected in the citizen participation budget and promoted as an implementation agenda next year.
