Former President Roh Moo-hyun's 12th Memorial Ceremony to Be Held on the 23rd in Bongha Village

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The 12th anniversary memorial service for former President Roh Moo-hyun will be held on the 23rd at Bongha Village, Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam.
The People’s Party Roh Moo-hyun Foundation announced on the 3rd that the memorial service will be conducted with a minimal number of attendees in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. About 70 people, including bereaved family members, representatives of political parties, and government officials, are expected to attend.
The slogan for the 12th anniversary is set as "The Twelfth Spring, Longing Has Grown into Hope." It signifies sharing the philosophy and values of former President Roh Moo-hyun, who has become hope itself beyond longing and mourning for democratic citizens.
The memorial service will be held at Bongha Village from 11 a.m. on the 23rd, hosted by announcer Park Hye-jin.
Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education Lee Jae-jung will deliver the official memorial address, and a foundation supporter living abroad will read the citizens’ memorial speech. The Bongha train and local group buses, which were previously provided for citizens’ convenience, will be suspended. The presidential tomb area will be restricted from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the memorial service.
A foundation official said, "We ask for the understanding of citizens as this is a measure to prevent the re-spread of COVID-19 infections."

Instead, the memorial service will be broadcast live on the foundation’s YouTube channel for citizens who cannot attend in person. In place of the scaled-down offline memorial service, various contents such as "The Twelfth Spring, Special Live Debate," "Alileo Books May Special Broadcast," and "Roh Moo-hyun’s Famous Speeches" will be produced to create an online solidarity space. An online photo exhibition to soothe the longing for former President Roh will also be presented.
