Chinese King and Foreign Minister Promise Support to Severely Affected India by COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] As the COVID-19 situation in India worsens, Wang Yi, China's State Councilor and Foreign Minister, promised support for epidemic prevention through a phone call with the Indian Foreign Minister.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 1st, State Councilor Wang Yi expressed during a call with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar the previous day, "We are deeply concerned about India's COVID-19 situation," and stated, "China empathizes with the difficulties of India, our neighbor and partner, and wishes to provide help and support."
He added, "China's Red Cross, local governments, friendly private organizations, and enterprises have already begun providing support to India," and said, "We hope the Indian government and people will succeed in epidemic prevention and believe they will."
State Councilor Wang conveyed his intention to continue supporting Chinese companies to accelerate the production of epidemic prevention supplies and supply them to India.
He also mentioned providing convenience for customs clearance and transportation of epidemic prevention supplies, and sharing epidemic prevention experiences and response measures through video exchanges between experts from both countries.
Minister Jaishankar responded, "We appreciate China's strong support in purchasing epidemic prevention supplies for India with goodwill and solidarity."
He added, "COVID-19 is a global issue that requires joint response from all countries," and said, "The cooperative measures shown by China are very important, and we want to strengthen epidemic prevention cooperation with China."
