Gwangju City "Please Voluntarily Report and Pay Individual Local Income Tax"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 30th that taxpayers with comprehensive income for the year 2020 who have an address within the jurisdiction must file and pay comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax by the 31st of next month.
The subjects are national income tax payers, including residents of Gwangju City and non-residents with domestic source income, with an estimated 188,000 people expected to be applicable.
Individual local income tax filing and payment must be done through the local tax electronic system, WETAX, via non-face-to-face electronic filing.
First, after filing the national comprehensive income tax on Hometax, users are directly transferred to WETAX without additional authentication, and the individual local income tax return is automatically filled in, providing convenience to file with one click.
Using electronic filing, payment can be conveniently made immediately via WETAX or mobile Smart WETAX, and payment is also possible through virtual account bank transfer or using bank automated machines.
This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, in-person filing will not be accepted.
However, during the filing period, instead of filing centers, help desks will be set up at each tax office and autonomous district to assist electronic filing only for those aged 65 or older and persons with disabilities among the fully pre-filled subjects.
Additionally, the payment deadline for small business owners affected by COVID-19, such as those subject to business suspension※ or operation restrictions, and small-scale self-employed persons will be extended by three months ex officio, allowing payment until August 31st.
Even if the payment deadline is extended, filing must be completed by the end of next month to avoid disadvantages.
For detailed information, inquiries can be made to the call center telephone consultation office or the tax department of the autonomous district.
