Namwon-si, 4 Consecutive Years of 'Best Excellence' in Local Government Joint Evaluation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 29th that it was selected as the top institution in Jeonbuk Province in the results of the ‘2020 Local Government Joint Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Local Government Joint Evaluation is the only comprehensive local government evaluation system at the government level, conducted fairly and objectively by a joint evaluation team (100 members) consisting of experts from various fields, based on the Government Performance Evaluation Act. It divides national tasks directly related to the quality of life of the people into sectoral indicators.
This evaluation was conducted on 122 detailed indicators of national goals across five major sectors (Government where the people are the owners, Peace and Prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, Balanced Regional Development, and a State Responsible for My Life). Namwon City achieved 52 out of 54 quantitative indicators for cities and counties (99.4%), greatly exceeding the average target achievement rate of 83% for cities and counties, achieving the highest score.
The city explained that despite unfavorable conditions for promoting administrative tasks in all fields due to COVID-19, it achieved results through active communication and cooperation between departments.
The city is scheduled to receive financial incentives from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in the second half of the year based on this achievement, and the incentives will be used to reward outstanding performers and prepare for next year’s evaluation.
