Jung Won-oh, Seongdong-gu Mayor, Hosts Online Parenting Talk Show with 50 Parents of Infants and Toddlers
On the 23rd, District Mayor Jeong Engages Participants in Open Q&A, Sharing Honest and Candid Answers on Childcare Policies and Opinions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, participated in an online parenting talk show with 50 parents of infants and toddlers at the Seongdong-gu Childcare Support Center on the 22nd.
The district provided an opportunity for parents of young children, exhausted from long-term childcare due to COVID-19, to share concerns and communicate about parenting. Participants freely asked questions, and Mayor Jung responded honestly and candidly, allowing open discussion about childcare policies and opinions that had been on their minds.
The event was divided into two parts, hosted by a professional moderator: a parenting talk and a toy-sharing event. In the second part, there was a session introducing toys and play methods tailored to different age groups and developmental characteristics.
With Mayor Jung’s appearance in the first part, 50 parenting moms expressed warm cheers. Although the meeting was held online, it felt as if everyone was in the same place, wearing masks, waving hands, and exchanging friendly glances.
Mayor Jung listened attentively to each resident’s introduction and story, empathizing with the difficulties of parenting with a witty joke about the “law of total mischief.” The atmosphere was comfortable and enjoyable, focusing on the joy of communication rather than the regret of not meeting in person.
In particular, Mayor Jung answered various questions and requests about the district’s childcare environment and policies on the spot. Participants expressed satisfaction with the district’s excellent childcare conditions and support, while also sharing opinions about facilities such as playgrounds where children can play.
At the ‘Children’s Dream Park’ in Haengdang-dong, which opened last year, safety managers are assigned to ensure children can play safely and freely. Participants also showed high satisfaction with the use of four toy rental centers within the district.
Starting this month, the district launched ‘Seongdong Parenting TALK TALK,’ a service that allows consultation on various parenting information such as pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare all at once.
Furthermore, until the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district plans to continue communication with parents of infants and toddlers through non-face-to-face childcare meetings and other related activities.
