Preliminary Applications Open for '2021 Jungnang-gu Residents Singing Contest' Alongside Seoul Rose Festival

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is sponsoring and Jungnang Cultural Center (Director Kim Tae-woong) is hosting the 2021 Jungnang-gu Residents Singing Contest (to be held on May 16), and is now accepting preliminary round applications.
The Jungnang-gu Residents Singing Contest is divided into preliminary and final rounds, and instead of the traditional on-site preliminaries, the preliminary round will be held as a non-face-to-face online contest.
Applications for the preliminary round are accepted until May 2, and anyone who is a resident of Jungnang-gu or works in Jungnang-gu can participate.
Applicants must submit a singing contest video of up to 5 minutes recorded indoors along with the application form via email (jungnangcc@naver.com). The application form can be downloaded from the Jungnang-gu Office website or the Jungnang Cultural Center website.
Through the preliminary round, 10 finalists will be selected and announced on May 7.
The finalists will perform in a no-audience competition on May 16 at 7 PM on the stage of the Seoul Rose Festival at Gyeomjaegyo Rose Broadcasting Station.
The performance will be streamed live online via YouTube, and can be viewed by searching for ‘Jungnang-gu Residents Singing Contest’ on YouTube.
In particular, prize money will be awarded to winners as follows: ▲Grand Prize (1 person) 1,500,000 KRW ▲Excellence Prize (1 person) 700,000 KRW ▲Encouragement Prize (1 person) 500,000 KRW ▲Popularity Prize (1 person) 300,000 KRW ▲Special Prize (6 persons) 100,000 KRW each.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “The Jungnang-gu Residents Singing Contest has seen participation from residents with outstanding talent every year,” and added, “I hope this year’s event will also be a precious time for everyone to enjoy together and relieve the frustrations caused by COVID-19 through active participation.”

Invited singers for the final include KCM, Lim Jeong-hee, Ji-won, and Joella, who will present various music genres such as ballads and trot to the residents.
